Restorative/Yoga Nidra with Ragan
Updated: 02-09-2010
Ragan’s Restorative Yoga/Yoga Nidra class is a passive form of yoga. The student uses blankets, blocks and other props to support the body so it can release into various positions. The emphasis is on surrender and release rather than effort or achievement. This 45 minute practice of surrender is followed by a 30 minute Yoga Nidra meditation which is designed to allow the mind to surrender in the same manner the body has.

Dances of Universal Peace
Updated: 03-01-2010
Friday March 19th 7:30-9:30p.m. $10 donation recommended, but not required. This event was well received in February, so we are bringing the presenter back again! The Dances of Universal Peace were brought together in the late 1960’s by Samuel L. Lewis (1896-1971), a Sufi Murshid (teacher) and Rinzai Zen Master, who also studied deeply in the mystical traditions of Hinduism, Judaism, and Christianity. The Dances of Universal Peace have evolved and expanded in practical application to meet the deep felt needs today for rediscovering reverence, creativity, and a body-based connection to the natural world. Teachers share the Dances in schools, therapy groups, prisons, hospice houses, drug rehabilitation centers, homes for the developmentally disabled, retirement villages, holistic health centers, and ecumenical worship celebrations. Mumtaz Kammerer has been leading The Dance on and off for more than two decades. We are delighted to welcome him in to yama to lead us in this form of sacred movement.
