Aaron Lind

Aaron Lind, M.A. is a certified Hatha Yoga instructor, graduating from Swan River Yoga Shala and School in 2008, specializing in alignment and body mechanics. He is overjoyed to share the practices of Yoga with the community, including Kirtan, Meditation, Mantra Practice, and Asana. He is currently studying the methodology and art of teaching Anusara Yoga and is steadily accumulating study and teaching credit hours towards Anusara-Inspired status.

Aaron has also studied the science of alignment and body mechanics extensively through the workshops, the Immersion Program and level one teacher training with Anusara Yoga founder John Friend, and Certified Anusara instructors Cat McCarthy, Scotta Brady, Zhenja LaRosa, and Jordan Bloom, and completed Martin Kirk's Anusara anatomy training for yoga teachers in Chapel Hill, NC. He also studied briefly with Sharon Gannon, co-founder of JIvamukti Yoga in New Orleans. He is incredibly grateful to all his teachers and friends for sharing incredible healing wisdom that has brought him much relief and joy, which he wishes to share as a teacher.

Aaron is also a dedicated student of Prof. Douglas R. Brooks PhD, who has shown him the deep abiding beauty of life through the teachings of Rajanaka Tantra. Aaron is studied in the realms of applied philosophy, Hindu mythololgy, and meditation.

He is very excited to share his knowledge and experience of yoga in its many forms with the wonderful New Orleans community. Aaron actively engages yoga as form of service, and strives to provide students with a skillful blend of intelligent alignment and deep yogic philosophy.

A native of The City of Trees- Boise, ID, Aaron moved to New Orleans in 2001 to participate in the incredible local music scene and complete Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Jazz Guitar from the University of New Orleans. He brings his musical experience to yoga instruction in the form of Kirtan events, Mantra classes, and uplifting chants in class. Aaron's intention for teaching yoga is to provide students with an opportunity to deepen their experience of life on and off the mat by creatively engaging their bodies, hearts, and minds to flow more gracefully in the currents of everyday experiences. Namaste!

Tantric Meditation
Updated: 11-22-2009
Meditation is a natural human experience, an innate skill we all possess, built into our survival mechanism to help us live more fully and relieve the pressure of daily life. Meditative states occur naturally when listening to music, walking in nature, being grateful, praying, watching waves, looking at art, dancing, sitting by rivers, being in love. At the heart of meditation is the claim that humans come into the world as unfinished beings with untapped possibilities. In the practice of meditation, we are invited to refine and culture our minds, bodies, and hearts, in pursuit of both a fuller understanding and experience of our humanity, and a deeper appreciation of all aspects of life. Meditation emerges from an extremely informal, yet attentive, intimate way of being with yourself. To engage in meditation is to engage in practices that focus and open the mind and heart, break down old habits, and invite a deeper appreciation and contentment of life. This class will approach the essentials of meditation from the perspective of the tradition of the Rajanaka, a sect of the tantric tradition of South India known as Shri Vidya, or Auspicious Wisdom. Aaron will relate the material as he was taught by his teacher, Douglas Brooks, one of the world's leading scholars of Hindu Tantrism. The course will include the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of meditation from the tradition of the Rajanaka.
