Pat Komarow Yoga Teacher

I am a Kripalu certified Yoga Teacher with additonal training in Dru Yoga which releases energy blocks in the body and mind. They are a great combination for all of us but particularly for those with physical and emotional challenges. My training also includes Yoga with Cancer and Cardiac Disease as well as other physical challenges.

My Special Needs yoga class caters to this population and comes out of my own experience with cancer. This class has been held for 8 1/2 years and continues to inspire me to be present and grow with my students---those who stay, new ones who come, and those who find other support and go with the changes of life.

I also teach beginning and mixed levels of yoga in a both studio and hospital-related setting.

Stress-Reduction Meditation classes through Memorial Hospital are also offered as well as a Buddhist guided Loving-Kindness Meditation. Check my schedule through this website for details as well as my personal website below. Thanks for your interest.

I welcome all who come and am delighted to join other mindful yoga teachers and students.

Loving-Kindness Meditation
Updated: 09-02-2009
This class teaches an ancient Buddhist practice of "metta" or Loving-Kindness which is based on the Four Brahma Viharas or "Four Divine Abidings": Loving-Kindness (metta), Compassion (karuna), Sympathetic Joy (mudita), and Equinimity (upekka). Guided phrases and/or visualations are used to gradually open your heart to wishing all beings well starting with yourself and then moving to loved ones, neutral ones, difficult ones, and finally all beings. One of these four "qualities of the mind" will be taught and guided each time we meet on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month with some Dharma discussion or "noble conversation" from 1:00 to 2:00 pm after metta meditation on the fourth Friday. This discussion time is devoted to integrating Buddish teaching or Dharma into our lives, especially in regard to these four above qualities. Dana only or donation. I invite you to join us. Pat
