Chris Belanger, RYT

Chris Belanger, RYT completed his 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health Stockbridge, MA in November of 2007. He is also a Laughter Yoga Leader & Chair Yoga instructor and is a member of the Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association (K.Y.T.A.) and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance. Chris looks to yoga as a form of exploration - inviting students to move in to their experience - the moment, movement, breath, body and mind – allowing individuals to honor their unique interpretation and expression of yoga. He views his role as more a guide than a teacher - as ones own experience is the true teacher. Chris and his wife Karen spend their free time playing with cats, observing wherever they happen to be and devouring vegan food.

Think yoga is for women? Think again. For 98% of yoga’s 5000+ year history, yoga was practiced almost exclusively by men. Think you are not flexible enough to do yoga? You do not need to be flexible to do yoga – yoga creates flexibility. Concerned about how you will look doing yoga? No worries - no one will be watching you as all are encouraged to savor their experience. Concerned that someone will twist you into a pretzel? Pretzels are for eating, not a yoga studio. Yoga is great for those who participate in sports. Many sports work one side of the body more than the other; yoga helps balance this out. This is not a vigorous, heated, or power class. The Village Wellness Center is happy to create the time and space for men to experience yoga in a relaxed, safe, comfortable and non-competitive environment.
