Emily’s yoga journey started about three years ago after a long mental and physical
personal struggle. She tried yoga as just another way to exercise and found that the
practice actually saved her life. With consistent practice and improvement in her mind,
body, and spirit connection, she was able to find peace, non-judgment, acceptance, and
love toward herself that she had never experienced before. This was also extended
toward the rest of the world. Emily completed her 200-hour certification in the summer
of 2009 and continued with her learning by becoming a 500-hour RYT under the
teaching of Doug Swenson in the summer of 2010. When she is not practicing yoga she
spends her time in the outdoors snowboarding or rock climbing. She strives to create
a connection to the Earth through her personal practice. Emily realized that this yogic
movement between her practice and nature was what she wanted to focus on in her
classes. She aspires to integrate the movement of nature into her students’ practice and hopes that they are able to experience the same sense of peacefulness and connection to the Earth that helped to create balance and serenity in her own life’s adventure.
