Angela 312yoga.com

Following a Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma diagnosis in 2001, Angela began practicing yoga, inspired by the therapeutic effects a regular practice had on her energy levels, immune system function, and overall well being. In 2008, Angela decided to leave her corporate life behind, after 10 years working in sales and marketing for the investment management and professional services industries. She's since traded her Jimmy Choos for a rubber yoga mat and hasn't looked back. Angela travels extensively and has recently returned to her hometown of Chicago following a five year stint in London. Angela is a Level 3 Central YMCA Qualified Yoga Teacher, is registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and is currently working towards certification in Anusara yoga.

Angela gives thanks to all the teachers who have inspired her practice, including John Friend, Sianna Sherman, Carlos Pomeda, Sally Kempton, Bikram Choudury, Sharon Gannon, and David Life, as well as the esteemed teachers she had the privilege of practicing with during her training in London, including Lisa Sanfilippo, Bridget-Woods Kramer, Michele Pernetta, Mark Oram, and Stewart Gilchrist. As much as Angela has learnt from her yoga teachers, she maintains that it is her students that teach her the most, admitting "there's nothing more inspiring than witnessing a student unfurl, finding their own innate goodness while opening heart, mind and body to the limitless potential that lies ahead both on and off the mat."

Updated: 09-14-2009
Every individual, regardless of size, flexibility, fitness or limitations, deserves to enjoy the multitude of benefits yoga has to offer -- from increased muscle strength and endurance to improved well being and ability to cope with life's stresses. In this basic, though at times challenging, class each student is offered personal attention and a well thought out evaluation of their areas of difficulty. By using yoga props and slight modifications in the poses, students can adapt yoga postures to accommodate their unique curves, injuries or stiff spots. Students can expect sympathetic and encouraging instruction that seeks never to intimidate but ultimately aims to help each move beyond their limitations.
